Student Disability Services (SDS) offers a variety of positions for undergraduate, and graduate students, alumni, and non-students to assist with the provision of disability-related accommodations and services. Please see below a list of position descriptions by functional area and contact the designated staff if interested.

Testing Center

Graduate Student Administrative Proctor

This is a non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track staff position.  This is not a graduate assistantship.  The position reports to the Student Services Coordinator of SDS) and is responsible for assisting with providing accommodated testing services in the SDS Testing Center. The position offers up to 20 hours per week.

Evening Proctor, Part-Time

This is a non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track staff position. The position reports to the Student Services Coordinator in SDS and is responsible for assisting with providing accommodated testing services in the SDS Testing Center primarily from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. when tests are scheduled or on an as-needed basis.

Temporary Administrative Proctor, Part-Time

This is a non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track staff position. The position reports to the Student Services Coordinator in SDS and is responsible for assisting with providing accommodated testing services in the SDS Testing Center.
Testing conditions are determined by instructors and may include authorized materials and aids allowed in the testing room, standard time allowed for the exam, exam platform if a computer-based exam, and many other possible specifications.

Assistive Technology Provider, Part-Time

This is an non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track staff position. The position reports to the Student Services Coordinator in SDS and is responsible for converting or creating accessible files for use with assistive technology software.

Assistive Technology & Alternative Media

Assistive Technology Specialist – Permanent, Full-Time

Reporting to the Director of Student Disability Services, the Assistive Technology Specialist assesses, recommends, and provides assistive technology solutions for students with disabilities. The position is also responsible for securing and producing instructional materials in an accessible format, managing departmental technology, overseeing the software licenses and equipment distribution, and serving as a resource to other departments.

Alternative Media Assistant, Temporary

This is a non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track staff position. The position reports to the Alternative Media Specialist and Student Services Coordinator and is responsible for assisting with providing instructional material for students in an accessible format and proctoring in the testing center.

Communication Access

Sign language Interpreter, Part-Time

This is an hourly position on an as-needed basis. The position facilitates communication access through sign language interpretation for students to ensure equal access to programs and activities.

Transcriber

This is an hourly position on an as-needed basis. The position provides speech-to-text services in classrooms to ensure equal access to programs and activities. 36-60 hours of training, paid for by Student Disability Services, is required for this position.

Note Taking

Administrative Assistant II

This is a non-exempt, temporary, non-tenure track position. The position reports to the Note Taking Administrative Assistant of Student Disability Services and is responsible for assisting with the hiring process and management of note taking services on campus.
