As a Sign Language Interpreter and TypeWell Transcriber, Tammy Cate works primarily with students, faculty, staff and community members who are D/deaf or hard of hearing to assist in communication access. Prior to working at Student Disability Services, Tammy worked on a federally-funded grant at the Center on Deafness at the University of Tennessee as a graduate assistant, which provided her an opportunity to publish the bilingual publication "Believing Achieving" and lead an exhibit and poster session at a regional conference. She also held the role of Senior Center director for a local senior center following her Master's program.
Tammy completed her Bachelor of Arts in Interpreting at Maryville College and her Master of Science in Adult Education at the University of Tennessee. She is a Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) Coordinator for the TN FACES (Families Advocating, Connecting, Educating and Supporting).
